Castle Stuart Golf Links

Castle Stuart is one of the younger Championship courses in Scotland. Despite having only opened its greens in 2009, it has already forged a remarkable history. By the end of its first year, it had not only earnt a reputation as one of Scotland’s top courses but as one of the world’s best.

The Path To Fame

In 2011 Castle Stuart played host to a European Tour event. It was the very first course in the Scottish Highlands to do so. Following this, three back-to-back years of The Scottish Open allowed the world to view this Highland course’s beauty.

Not only is Castle Stuart a favourite with the fans, but many of golf’s superstars are enamoured with the course. Phil Mickelson has said that “it should be a prerequisite to play Castle Stuart before you’re allowed to design a golf course”.

The Course

There has been a lot of thought and planning put into the design of Castle Stuart. Mark Parsinien built the course with lofty ambitions. The aim was to create a course that would become THE course to visit in the Scottish Highlands.

Mark focused on creating a challenging course that is characterized by errors and recoveries to reach this goal. The idea is that the course’s challenge causes you to make mistakes, but there is room for you to get back on form as you play. This creates an exhilarating experience.

If you arrive at the course with time to spare, you can take advantage of the 350-yard Practice Range. It even features a short game area so you can work on your game before you hit the course. Adjacent to the first hole, you will find the putting green. It’s perfectly situated to let you get warmed up before you’re called to the first tee.

Just one visit to The Course at Castle Stuart and it is easy to see why it deserves a place on every golfers’ must-play list.
