Playing St Andrews Old Course

Due to the unique position the Old Course holds in the hearts and minds of golfers all over the world, the demand for starting times is extremely high.

To secure one of these highly sought after slots there are several options available.

1. Direct advance applications to St Andrews Links Trust can be placed from 10.00am on the first Wednesday in September for tee times the following year.

These applications are open to groups of up to 8 golfers and must include a second round over one of the other Links Trust Courses, normally the New Course, Jubilee or Castle. Golf Around Scotland would be happy to assist or advise on this application and then if successful we would build the rest of your itinerary around the successful days.

2. Each year, in conjunction with our accommodation partners in Stay in St Andrews, the hotels and guest house association of St Andrews, Golf Around Scotland are able to offer a limited number of specific pre-booked starting times.

These times are offered as part of a package which must be for a minimum of 3 nights and which would also include some of Scotlands other top courses.

Please contact us for dates and availability.

3. Golf Around Scotland are able to apply each year for “Trade Times” which are based on a 2 round ticket to include the Old Course and one of the other Links Trust Courses.

Applications for Trade Times can be placed from the first week in October for starting times the following year and we would normally be notified of our success or otherwise a few weeks later in early November.

Please contact us for further information.

4. If you have been unsuccessful in using any of the above options or if you are too late to apply, then the “Daily Old Course Ballot” offers the best chance of accessing a starting time. Entry in the Ballot, for groups of 2 to 8 golfers is placed before 2pm, 2 days prior to day of play and the result is given around 4pm that same day.

Golf Around Scotland are happy to place entries in the ballot on clients behalf and although it does not offer a guaranteed route to a game on the Old Course we would always try to work your itinerary to be able to place an entry on more than one day with the result that our success rate is high.

Please contact us for further information.

5. Executive “Guaranteed Old Course Packages” are available to buy for groups of 4 to 40 golfers from April to October each year.

These packages are sold as 3, 4 or 5 night programmes and although the most expensive route to the Old Course, they do offer an extremely high quality product.

Please contact us for further information.
